KENTON
RAISES CURTAIN ON ITS WINTER PROGRAMME

The
Kenton Theatre presents its 2008 winter programme with their new
brochure now available from the theatre box office.Theatre Managing
Director, Wendy Bowsher, explained that her planning team
had worked tirelessly to provide a range of productions with no
less than 20 different shows. Fourteen of these are professional
productions! Wendy explained the deliberate change of policy by the new
Kenton Management Team to raise the profile of the theatre and attract
larger audiences to more shows.

The
Kenton welcomes stars of television and the two performances by Pam
Ayres in February are already selling briskly. Nicholas
Parsons will appear on 12th April in his highly acclaimed
production of ‘How Pleasant To Know Mr Lear’. This replaces
‘Richard Bucket Overflows’! which the Kenton hope to bring back
later in the year.

These
shows and the tribute to ‘Flanders and Swann’ in January are ideally suited to the
intimate atmosphere of the Kenton.
|
|
Patrons
have asked for more laughs at the theatre-well the Kenton will provide
them!! Two Comedy Nights feature some of the stand-up world’s
brightest and most inventive young stars. Natalie
Haynes is claimed to be the finest British female comedian currently
touring the country with several appearances at the Edinburgh Fringe,
while Terry Saunders and Andrew
O’Neill both weave wonderful surreal tales. Never heard of them?
You will-and remember, you saw them at the Kenton first.

Why
not relive your youth with some lively musical evenings with tribute
bands Abba Illusion and Bee Gees
UK, and the real thing with Chas
‘n’ Dave.

The
Kenton will always welcome our regular and very popular local amateur
groups as they provide a wealth of talented entertainment. West
Side Story and The Wyrd Sisters promise to offer very different
types of theatre experience!

Why
not dress up for ‘Old Tyme’
on Saturday 12th January? There are still some seats
available for both matinee and evening performances of the Old Tyme
Music Hall.

The
Kenton seeks to provide something for the youngsters with Muffin
Hurst’s pantomime, Mother Goose, in January. In the Easter Half
Term, they can enjoy the dark and spooky whodunit Does
A Monster Live Next Door? presented by Tall Stories Company this
mysterious tale was premiered at the 2007 Edinburgh Fringe earlier this
year and will keep you hooked to the very end. Family tickets and group
discounts will be offered for this production. This company will provide
a Storytelling Workshop, a 60 minute group exercise in telling a story
visually? This event will be staged between the morning and afternoon
performances.

The
theatre is indebted to The Roy Bailey Band for bringing an evening of Fascinating Rhythms on Saturday 5th April. They are
performing without a fee to assist with theatre fund raising, so please
come along and support this generous gesture on what will be a fabulous
evening.
