EXTRA SHOW FOR 'GIRAFFES'
Extra Performance for Giraffes Can't Dance - Now on at 11.30am as well as 2.30pm
Due to huge demand we're pleased to announce an extra performance of Giraffes Can't Dance at 11.30am on Thursday February 18th in addition to the original 2.30pm show.
Based on the best selling book Giraffes Can't Dance, it's the perfect half term treat for 4 to 7 year olds and is created and performed by specialist children's theatre company, Blunderbus. This wonderful musical play tells the much loved story of Gerald the Giraffe who each year dreads the annual Jungle Dance. He envies the fancy footwork of the monkeys and lions but is ridiculed because, with his long bandy legs, Gerald just can't dance.... until a wise and chirpy cricket suggests he stop worrying about what others think and find his own style instead. Packed with audience participation and using a mixture of actors and beautifully crafted puppets, this spectacular and fun packed show delivers an uplifting message.
The book was written by award winning poet Giles Andreae and illustrated by Guy Parker-Rees and the production is adapted for the stage by Bill Davies with music and lyrics by Frank Goodhind who also collaborated on a stage adaptation of the award winning children's book, The Rainbow Fish. The stunning puppets in the show were designed by Bill Davies and Jessica Kay.
Established in 1998, Blunderbus is a professional theatre company committed to creating magical, memorable theatre experiences for children and their families. Each year they play to over 200,000 children touring theatres, arts centres, schools and festivals. Five dedicated actor-puppeteers work full-time performing in shows throughout the year and senior members of the acting team also take on the role of mentor, imparting their specialist knowledge to newcomers, both in rehearsal and while on the road.
Giraffes Can't Dance at 11.30am and 2.30pm, Thursday February 18th 2010. Tickets £7 or £25 for a family ticket.
