A comedy in five acts by Thomas Morton. The Kenton
Theatre takes pleasure in inviting you to this bicentenary
celebration of The Theatre's opening. This comedy, written by one of
the foremost dramatists of the period, was the first play produced
at the Kenton. It had opened at The Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, and
transferred to The Kenton to open on 7 November,
1805.
It is a stylised farce of the period, with
mistaken identities, aged gentlemen chasing young maidens, long lost
sons, and lovers never to be united (until the last act), and wives
who truly know 'How to Rule a Husband'.
