THE KENTON THEATRE BICENTENARY

Playwriting Competition Finals
 Sunday 14th January 2007
     
1st Prize The three plays selected by the judges for the finals will be performed and awards will be presented at the end of the evening. The three plays are:

AFTER ALL THESE YEARS by Laureen Williamson

2nd Prize Performed by the Jean Sutherland Players 

THE SEPTUAGENARISN by Jill Yeats

3rd Prize

Performed by The Henley Players

AN INCONVENIENCE by Gillian Campbell

Performed by H.A.O.D.S

The competition was won by Laureen Williamson for her play "After all these years" the First Prize, presented by John Luker, Chairman of the Henley Standard, was a cheque for £250.   
Runner-up was Jill Yates with her play "The Septuagenarian" prize of £150 - and in third place was Gillian Campbell with "An Inconvenience" prize of £100.
Chairman of Judges was well-known Film and Television Director Simon Langton. Other judges were Margot Thomas, Stage and Television actress, John Luker, Bill Port and Mary Scriven Arts and Entertainments Editor of the Henley Standard.
There was a full house to cheer for the plays and the atmosphere in the theatre was terrific. Many thanks to the Henley Standard who sponsored the competition
